In preparation for the 2009 regular season, I’ve created a list of games that I’m planning on attending. The games earlier in the year are much more firm. Later in the year if a team from nowhere starts to be interesting or a player is making a name for himself AND the team has a game near the mid-Atlantic area. I may skip a game from teams that I’ve already seen. So consider this schedule tentative, but I would expect that I’ll see 90% game on this schedule.
There are a few teams that I haven’t figured out how to see play. For example, I couldn’t find a way to see UIC – perhaps in the tournament. I was investigating flying out to Washington to see Cal-Poly, Washington, Portland and Creighton. But it just didn’t fit into the travel budget, this year.
With this plan, I’ll see 80 teams play not including conference and NCAA tournaments. But that means that I will be missing over 100 teams.
Any suggestions on seeing other teams, leave me a comment.
9/17/09 *UPDATE* – Updated changed last week in Sept and crossed out games that I didn’t attend.
10/09/09 *UPDATE* – Updated last week, this week-end and through end of October.

I have to say that I really enjoy your site. You have a great job! Need an assistant? I would guess that you live in the Washington DC / Maryland area. Most of the games you see, seem to be around there. Why no New England coverage? (ok you have seen Harvard, Uconn and BC) but there are others. Also I have to not that you almost completely skip d 3 schools. Being in Vermont, I am lucky and get to see Middlebury play..believe me they are good.
Are d3 school players simply not going to make it in the pros? The Nescac is home of some the best ball around.
I have seen UVM, UMASS, Dartmouth, UConn, Midd, Tufts and Norwich play this year and I hope to get to many others

I’m glad that you enjoy the site. I do live in the DC area. Travel budgets are tight. I’ve seen live UConn, Brown, Providence, BC, UMass, Harvard, Northeastern, URI, CCSU, BU, Fairfield, Quinnipiac and I plan on seeing Dartmouth later this year.
I generally keep the scope to DI, because the vast majority of players are coming from that pool. If I increased my viewing to D2 and D3, I wouldn’t be able to cover the nation – which is hard enough just keeping to D1.
Kai Kasurigan (sp) from Messiah was a D3 AA for 3 or 4 years – he’s a marginal MLS player.

When you head to the Big South tournament you should take a look at High Point’s Goalkeeper (sophomore) Michael Chesler. I saw him play against NC State and Elon this season and he was spectacular and was the only reason there team had a chance at winning. Also from there team you should look at Matt Tuttle.

It looks like High Point is going to be playing VMI. Last year, VMI didn’t provide much of a challenge, so this may not be a good example.

That is very true. Just thought I would let you know they both look very good and from what I have seen Chesler looks as good or better then Macmath.

didn’t take it curt at all don’t worry. Just found out High Point will be playing Radford so it may be better to watch then VMI but still not very competitive. If you don’t mind me asking who do you think the best young GK’s in the country are right now? Sophomores, Juniors, Freshman?

Sorry for the curt answer. I appreciate your feedback.
MacMath has not been as good as he was last year.
