Fairfax, VA – This game was the “Heaven’s Gate of college soccer”. A burden to watch without learning a whole lot about either team – except that Richmond is horrible. How did Marshall lose to this team? Even lowly Bryant beat Richmond. Assessing GM is difficult given the competition. To be perfectly honest, it was a huge waste of time given that I’m going to see GM against more equitable competition. My time would have been better spent watching the end of “V is for Vendetta”.
George Mason (GM) beat Richmond 4-0 in a game that could have been called on the “mercy” rule.

Richmond observations:
Study hard, find a good desk job. Good luck.
GM observations:
The first goal was scored in the first minute (actually scored 23 seconds into the game) by freshman Axel Levry. His shirt was being tugged by Fynn Glover for 10 yards before Glover released him to score the goal with a toe poke at the top of the box from a long entry pass by sophomore Anthony Han.
In the 28th minute, the second goal was scored by freshman forward Draymond Washington. The play started with sophomore midfielder Fro Adu saving the ball from a goal kick, passing it back to Han who struck a good shot. Richmond GK *Name Withheld to protect the guilty* made a good save but pushed the rebound to the back post and onto Washington’s foot for his first collegiate goal.
The third goal was generated by an Irvin Martinez corner kick that found Ryan Gracia’s head from 5 yards on the near post in the 57th minute.
The fourth goal was scored by Washington in 76th minute. From 35 yards, Levry sent a through pass to Hugh Fike just outside of the box. Richmond had continued to let Fike shoot unchallenged from this area all evening. Fike’s shot hit the post this time and Washington one touched it from 7 yards.
I’m just not going to do individual player assessments for this game.
